With the publication of our Annual Report and Accounts we’ve been reflecting upon another busy year for the team at #RMAScot. Click the button below to read all about our work this year, including: our review of the UK Government’s Counter-Terrorism and Sentencing Bill; our reshaping of the application process to become and RMA Accredited Assessor; and supporting the development of a framework for assessing those convicted of internet offences.
Picking the right tool is just one step in the overall risk assessment process. RATED, our risk assessment tools directory, designed to help you select and apply the right tool. It contains over 70 entries and a full glossary. The tools are categorised by type of offence and each tool includes links to international background research. We’ve added three new tools and one updated tool to the Violence Risk category, click the button below to take a look.
This year we formed and chaired a multi-agency working group to support the development of a framework for assessing those convicted of offences relating to indecent images of children (IIOC). We’re pleased to announce that this project is now in the pilot stage. The pilot is looking at reliability and validity, and usefulness for practitioners. If you are from a local authority and interested in participating in the pilot, you can find more information by clicking the button below.
Hayley Warburton, one of our OLR Case Workers, has recently completed domestic abuse advocacy (IDAA) training. In our September blog she tells us all about it, and how it’ll support her work moving forward:
“One of the most powerful learning points from my experience of undertaking the course, is the strength of passion, commitment and determination within the field to advocate for change and reform…”
Our blogging platform is a space to express opinions and explore thoughts from the RMA team and guest bloggers. If you have a comment or have a topic in mind you’d like to write about, get in touch with the team: firstname.lastname@example.org
