Part 1: The Policy Context

As social workers, you don’t work in a vacuum. There is legislation and policy which covers justice social work practice in general, and risk assessment and management processes in particular.

The Framework for Risk Assessment, Management and Evaluation (FRAME) outlines Scotland’s approach to risk practice. It was developed with input and agreement from the range of agencies who make up the criminal justice sector including police, social work, health, prison, inspectorates and the Scottish Government. As part of your continuous professional development, you may want to read the full policy paper or the overview, which summarises its content.

Please watch this brief video which explains what FRAME is about.
