Pilot Schemes

In response to a recommendation from the Joint Thematic Review of MAPPA in Scotland (HMICS, 2015), the RMA undertook a literature review exploring internet offending. The review was published in 2018 and can be found here.

In 2020, we formed and chaired a multi-agency working group to support the development of a framework for assessing those convicted of offences relating to indecent images of children (IIOC). The framework includes the use of the Child Pornography Offender Risk Tool (C-PORT) and the Correlates of Admitted Sexual Interest in Children (CASIC) (Seto & Eke, 2016) as a method of assessing the risk presented by individuals convicted of internet offences.

We are currently running a two-year pilot scheme to explore the reliability and validity of the framework, and examine the usefulness for practitioners.

Our Research Lead, Rachel Webb, attended IATSO conference in September 2023 and presented on the progress of our Internet Offending Model Pilot. See Rachel’s poster here.
